Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about how DivorceMaybe works.

Is DivorceMaybe free?

Yes — browsing listings, posting in the community forum, and messaging any professional who offers a free consultation are free. We have an optional Premium tier ($9.99/month) for unlimited direct messages.

How do you verify lawyers and counselors?

Every professional signs up, confirms their email, and submits credentials. An admin reviews and only then does the listing appear in public search. You'll see a "Verified" badge on profiles that have cleared review.

Do you give legal advice?

No. DivorceMaybe is a directory and community — not a law firm. Information on the site is for orientation only. Talk to a verified lawyer for advice on your situation.

I'm in an abusive relationship. Is it safe to use this site?

We built the Safety hub with you in mind. There's a one-click Quick Exit button, hotlines for the US/Canada/UK/Australia, browsing-safety tips, and a moderated "Leaving safely" forum. Use a private browser window.

I run a law firm. Can I list the whole firm?

Yes — create a firm after registering. Each member of the firm appears on the firm page, and listings can be tied to the firm so clients see your full team.

Can I post anonymously in the forum?

Your DivorceMaybe display name appears on posts — you choose what that is. Don't use your full real name if privacy matters. Threads in the "Leaving safely" forum are moderated for de-identification.

How does pricing work for professionals?

New pros get a free trial. After that, a standard monthly listing fee applies. There's also a small referral commission on engagements that originate through DivorceMaybe. See Pricing for pros.

My community isn't represented in the forum. What do I do?

Email us via the contact form. We have sub-forums for South Asian / desi, women, LGBTQ+, and faith-based discussions, and we keep adding more as users ask.
